Energías renovables, eficiencia energética y biocombustibles
Comparative Advantages
Hydroelectric potential
The Province of Misiones has over 1% of the water annually transported by all of the planet’s watercourses. The Yacyretá dam generates 20,000GWh per year, 10 times the Province’s energy consumption. The Urugua-í Dam’s annual generation module is around 360GWh. With a daily consumption of 240,000 kilocalories per person, energy will increasingly become a necessary good to compete and maintain high living standards. In Latin America, hydroelectric energy represents 35% of supply, almost double the world average. According to the WTO, in 2015, Argentina imported fuels in the amount of USD 6.5 billion.
